ACP's Thin Client and Terminal Server management software, ThinManager, is already used by major companies around the world when they need true reliability. Now when combined with TermSecure every ThinManager Ready Thin Client can provide a completely secure access point to the Terminal Servers regardless of the end user application. Until connected, the TermSecure User is totally insulated from the Microsoft Windows Terminal Servers. He never even knows a Windows username and password, only his TermSecure Login. And if this login is accomplished with an RFID device, card reader or USB key he doesn't even have that information.
This means that if the user needs to become inactive or have his access changed all that has to be updated is his TermSecure User account. None of the passwords or accounts on any Windows computer is affected.
Each TermSecure User has a fully configurable set of permissions that are modified within ThinManager and are visible in the ThinManager tree. These permissions are used to allow or restrict access to individual TermSecure Thin Clients, individual Terminal Servers, or groups of Terminal Servers. Access of individual TermSecure Users or TermSecure Thin Clients can also be restricted based on time of day and day of week.
Like ACP's standard ThinManager licenses TermSecure licenses are offered in 5, 10 and 25 client packs, as well as in various levels of unlimited licensing. Each TermSecure Thin Client is defined logically by the system administrator and is not dependant on the specific client's hardware. An administrator who has fifty TermSecure licenses, for instance, can designate any fifty Thin Clients to become TermSecure clients. While the number of TermSecure Thin Clients is limited by the number of licenses, ThinManager supports an unlimited number of TermSecure Users. Both TermSecure Users and TermSecure Thin Clients can have individual permissions based on the access required.
Along with TermSecure, ACP is also offering a free ActiveX control that can be used to modify an application's behavior based on TermSecure permissions. An application displaying a graphic control screen for a manufacturing process, for instance, can be made to display different buttons or messages for different classes of users - operators and supervisors, for instance.
In addition to secure access, the TermSecure User can take advantage of smart context, which allows his workspace and applications to literally follow him from Thin Client to Thin Client. He can log on to each TermSecure Thin Client via a keyboard or touchscreen and have his Terminal Server session displayed on the client. If he is configured to use an RFID tag, his session(s) can appear on the client as he approaches and vanish when he leaves. If security is not an issue, TermSecure Users can be created with unrestricted access to simply take advantage of this smart context switching.
With support for various proximity cards, RFID tags, USB keys and other devices, ACP's TermSecure provides a simple and foolproof way to completely control Terminal Server access.
