Production Events Module for Production Traceability and History in IAS!

 

Wonderware recently released the new functional module for Industrial Application Server called Production Events Module or PEM.  The new Production Events Module (PEM) enables the creation of applications to record production events, which are critical to understanding product and production history. PEM provides the capability to capture and report forward and backward genealogy of materials, equipment and personnel utilized in production, and all other relevant events that happened to a lot, batch, or serial number as it was produced.

The Production Event Module for Industrial Application Server is built on the ArchestrA software architecture. The modular nature of PEM enables a scalable approach to building applications to collect data on product genealogy and production history. Using PEM, small applications that target specific production issues or regulatory requirements can be quickly and easily implemented. These applications can then grow to accommodate a larger scope or enhanced functionality. In this way, the Wonderware Production Events Module enables incremental, low-risk deployment of increased application functionality as requirements evolve.

 

The Production Events Module (PEM) uses the naming conventions and object modeling structures of the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation (ISA)-95 “Enterprise-Control System Integration” standard. This international standard defines common terminology and object models for enterprise business systems and production systems.  ISA-95 has been implemented by a number of manufacturing companies as the standard by which they model manufacturing processes and workflows.  Using this standard, PEM allows users to collect and report on detailed information regarding:

  • Material Produced Actual

  • Material Consumed Actual

  • Material Consumable Actual

  • Material Moved Actual

  • Personnel Actual

  • Equipment Actual

  • Production Data

By enabling customers to monitor, report, and analyze lot, batch, and serial number production history and genealogy, PEM facilitates a rapid and economical response to unforeseen production events, such as product recalls, and fulfillment of regulatory requirements for documentation of products and production processes.
