ActiveFactory™ 8.5 Now Available

ActiveFactory™ 8.5 is a full-featured suite of client applications that maximize the value of data stored in Wonderware's IndustrialSQL Server™. The suite allows for the dissemination of information across a network, intranet or Internet. ActiveFactory provides trending analysis of data over time, easy numerical analysis of data using Microsoft® Excel®, comprehensive data reporting using Microsoft Word®, ad hoc access to plant floor historical and real-time information using the corporate information highways.  With ActiveFactory, individuals at all levels of an organization can easily access plant and process data through simple point-and-click dialogs. At the touch of a button, users can generate sophisticated web-enabled analyses of the data, create custom reports and share them with selected individuals equipped with only a browser.   As well as providing support for Microsoft Office 2003, Windows XP tablet addition and IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 Enterprise Version, the new ActiveFactory™ Version 8.5 now brings several new enhancements to this already powerful set of client tools.

The "ActiveFactory Reporting Web Site"

This new addition is a web application that brings the power of ActiveFactory to browser-based users. The ActiveFactory Reporting Web Site is quick and easy to setup and is immediately useful without any further configuration. Customers that make use of this new out of the box functionality can take advantage of the following enhancements.

  • The ability to leverage content in ActiveFactory Trend and ActiveFactory Workbook and publish that content directly to the "ActiveFactory Reporting Web Site" as well as to provide the automatic scheduling of reports, collaboration between users, and ad-hoc access to plant data.

  • Newly introduced custom Filters.  Custom filters significantly enhance the ability to use the Reporting Web Site for non time-based reports (i.e. batch based, run based, etc.).  Custom Filters (which will automatically appear in the framework of the Reporting Website) can be used with custom reports created using Workbook.  The Reporting Website can now pass three parameters to a Report created using Workbook

    • selected TagNames (used with TagBinding)

    • selected Date/Time (used with TimeBinding)

    • custom filter(s)

  • Factory Suite Alarm database integration with new reports such as the InTouch Alarm History and Event Report.

    • These reports will return alarm data from the WWALMDB that can be configured with InTouch 7.1 or InTouch 8.0 as well as allowing filtering by the Alarm priority and/or the Alarm status.

Additionally, ActiveFactory Version 8.5 now introduces ActiveFactory for the SuiteVoyager Industrial Intelligence portal.  Companies utilizing ActiveFactory for SuiteVoyager (AF4SV) will now have access to all of the flexible and powerful features found in ActiveFactory from within the web portal environment of SuiteVoyager.  AF4SV will modify an already installed or new Reporting Website so that it can only be accessed from within SuiteVoyager.  Once installed, users can configure AF4SV to:

  • Incorporate a custom Navigation Tree which will appear in the SuiteVoyager launch pad.  This addition provides the Ability to:

    • Specify a SuiteVoyager role for each folder/subfolder level.

    • Create a Link to a Reporting Website menu item, specified report, or specified trend.

  • Control what 'parts' of the Reporting Website are accessible by different users.

Additional enhancements to ActiveFactory 8.5 include:

Support for the new features of IndustrialSQL Server 8.0

  • Request access to data from multiple data types (analog, discrete, and string) with a single query.

  • Time zone support now allows the viewing of  data in the time of the server, the client, or any other specified time zone.

  • Manual entry of data directly into IndustrialSQL Server.

Trend

  • Inking is supported when using the Win XP Tablet Edition.

  • Data interpolation has been enhanced so that Both "sample and hold" as well as linear interpolation are now supported.

  • Trend files can now be published to the ActiveFactory Reporting Site annotating and highlighting important information.

  • Pen color templates now allow the default configuration of each Pen.

  • The ability to print trend information has been improved.

  • New properties and methods have been added to iTrend ActiveX to make it a great control for use in Web applications.

  • Numerous properties in iTrend ActiveX were made bindable in InTouch and enhancements were made to make the new Version 8.5 control much faster and more robust when used in conjunction with the InTouch package.

Query

  • Includes an improved user interface so that the control over resolution and retrieval options is simpler and more intuitive yet more powerful.

  • Version 8.5 Supports multiple aggregate types for multiple tags.

Workbook (plug-in to Microsoft Excel)

  • Incorporates a powerful new automation model.

  • Allows publishing of report to the ActiveFactory Reporting Web Site.

  • Workbooks can be dynamically bound to Tags, Tag Folders and time periods at run time.

  • Results are returned 50% faster when inserting a new function.

 Report (plug-in to Microsoft Word)

  • Better control over field codes.

  • Improved support for Non-English languages.

SingleValueEntry ActiveX Control

  • The SingleValueEntry ActiveX control is usable in any container application including InTouch™ and Microsoft Internet Explorer. This point and click control allows insertion of Manual Single Data Values into any IndustrialSQL Server (7.1 or 8.0) without any knowledge of the data base structure or SQL. Additionally, this control:

  • Allows InTouch developers to easily add "manual" (operator) data entry to their application.

  • Can be used to update values stored by IndustrialSQL Server or record operator entered data (i.e., operator readings, shift report, data etc.).

Common Enhancements

  • Powerful new publishing and scheduling features allow many more users (with less plant knowledge) to benefit from the value of the information provided by ActiveFactory.

  • Connecting to InSQL is easier than ever, especially in mixed security environments.

  • Every aspect of the license system has been simplified and improved.

  • Control over the Time Zone used for history data using the Time Zone control to set which time zone from which you would like to see your data. This is particularly useful when your applications are running on a system in a different time zone to your server(s).
